THE SURROUNDING AREA
Palisse is a small hamlet set amongst beautiful French countryside between the towns of Aubettere and Riberac.
Petit Bersac is our nearest main village with a post office, a bar/restaurant 'Petit B' and a Boulangerie. There is a Par, 9 hole golf course about 10 minutes drive away - Le Manoir de Longeveau - fabulous views & friendly English speaking staff. Labyrinthe végétal at Poltrot, is worth a visit. A great outdoor space for all sorts of activities.
Aubetterre - simply beautiful! Enjoy shopping & a drink in the square, roam around the fantastic lanes, dotted with boutique shops & eateries. Not to be missed is the Church of Saint Jean, an underground, Monolithic Church. As well as this, there is a river beach, tennis, canoeing and many good restaurants.
Riberac - famous for it’s fantastic Friday morning markets that spread through most of the town. Not to be missed! A good selection of cafes and restaurants. Le Clerc supermarket on the Perigeux road, and Intermarche on the Mussidan road.
Bordeilles - Very pretty with beautiful Chateau & medieval church.
Brantome - is a beautifully picturesque town, "the Venice of the Perigord" situated along the river dronne. The town has a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire. Shopping, canoeing, eating, sightseeing, it has it all.
Perigueux - has a Medieval town centre and stunning Cathedral. Good quality 18 hole municipal golf course.
Cognac - the capital of the brandy world!
Limoges - famed for its pottery over the centuries.
St Emilion - Simply stunning hill top fortress town surrounded by acres of vineyards where the wine is not bad.....famed throughout the world. Not to be missed!
Bordeaux - Old city is steeped in history & to the south the incredible sand dunes at Pilat on the gulf of Archachon, passing a huge Aqua park on route.
There are magnificent ancient Caves at Villars, Sarlat and Domme.
Futuroscope (the theme park dedicated to the moving image) just north of Poitiers (2hours drive time)is well worth a visit (perhaps on your way down or way back).
